Prince of Tennis II - Episodes 10 & 11
3/18/12 | 0 Comments | Top

4-espidoe review in one sit. I feel really good after finishing a reaction paper now. What happened to this two episodes were just minor matches between Tezuka and Seigaku's former tennis captain, Yamato.

Episode 10:------------------------------------------------------------

To be honest, I didn't recognize him myself too when I saw him now at his present look. I mean, hair color changed and he seems to be a different person without the glasses. Anime sure is weird at times but I guess it made everything thrilling.

This match serves a little purpose to the whole series but a big purpose on Tezuka, especially where his career on tennis is concerned. Of course, out of all people, Yamato knows so much about Tezuka's ability and his great potential being his kouhai himself.

What he said during their match is also true. Tezuka has always been carrying the pillar all by himself and that is dragging him slow for his bright future on tennis. Yamato also pin-pointed Tezuka's weakness in tennis and guided him pretty well towards the greatest patch he had to take.

What's good is, Tezuka had a hard time dealing with Yamato and he would even risk his arm (again) just to win his match. But later in the episode, he figured out what he wanted with tennis and most of his potential was shown in defeating Yamato.

Even the players of court 1 acknowledges Tezuka's great potential. And so, he finally decided to take up on that invitation that he once received from a group of professionals in Germany and left the U-17 Camp. Also, Atobe promised Tezuka that he will be chasing after him in Germany and that he will carry the pillar in his place.

It is sad to say, though, that Yamato considered that match as his retirement.

Episode 11:------------------------------------------------------------

After the match between Tezuka and Yamato, this episode's match highlight is Atobe vs. Irie. (BTW, I am a big fan of Irie because he gives out this cool vibes of a player).

But before Tezuka left U-17, Fuji challenged him for a match. It was a sudden invitation and it also got me off the chair but a match between them is fine for my eyes. Too bad Fuji lost like it was nothing for Tezuka. Seeing Tezu's full potential like that, Fuji also decided to work harder in order to step on the same ground as him in the future.

So, onto the main match of the episode, it appears to be that Irie is having trouble playing against Atobe and is in a danger score of 5-0, Atobe leading. Although the match was obviously in favor for Atobe and so he seems to think so too, it was changed drastically when Atobe noticed Irie doesn't have any weak spots on his field.

It was then revealed that Irie's full potential is of equal par with that of the players which belongs to court 1 and that he had been placed on court 3 to balance out the courts with respect to player abilities. It was quite a surprising information and the match became intense and interesting.

They have reached quite a big score after a few rallies after noticing each of their true abilities. Also, Atobe doesn't want to loose like that as well; not after what he had said to Tezuka, not after he had promised him. He then discover his talent of seeing his opponent's weakness through his oponent's gesture, skeletal position to be exact and this made it hard for Irie to end the match.

The match ended in a draw since Atobe knocked himself on the wall and Irie can no longer lift his shoulder so it was impossible for each to play any longer and plus, it was already snowing.

This episode shown great friendship between Tezuka and Atobe and it was really my first time seeing this two in sync when it comes to tennis. They were rivals the last time and now they are this close. It was really a great development.
